What is r300?

The R300 is a graphics processing unit (GPU) developed by ATI Technologies (now AMD) in 2003. It was designed for use in desktop and mobile computer systems and was the first GPU to support DirectX 9.0. The R300 featured 16 pixel pipelines and eight vertex pipelines and had a core clock speed of up to 425 MHz. It also introduced new features such as advanced anti-aliasing, support for programmable shaders, and improved memory management. The R300 was used in a range of graphics cards, including the Radeon 9500, 9600, and 9700 series. It was considered a significant advance in graphics technology at the time and was often compared favorably to Nvidia's competing GPUs.
