What is rambotan?

Rambutan is a tropical fruit that belongs to the family of soapberry. It is native to Southeast Asia and is widely grown in countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The fruit is roughly the size of a golf ball and is covered in hairy, spiky, and often bright red skin that is easy to peel. The flesh of the fruit is whitish, translucent, and juicy, with a mildly sweet and slightly tart flavor. The seed in the center is not edible. Rambutan is a good source of vitamins C and B complex, iron, and calcium. It is often eaten fresh as a snack or used in desserts and drinks. Rambutan is also used in traditional medicine to treat ailments such as fever, dysentery, and diarrhea.
