What is rangutan?

The orangutan is a great ape native to Indonesia and Malaysia. It is one of the only two species of great apes found in Asia, the other being the gibbon. Orangutans are known for their distinctive reddish-brown fur, long arms, and gentle nature. They are arboreal creatures, spending most of their time in trees and are primarily herbivorous, surviving mainly on fruit, leaves, and insects. Unfortunately, orangutans are listed as critically endangered, with habitat loss and poaching being the primary threats to their survival. Conservation efforts are underway to preserve their populations and their habitats.
