What is reach-stacker?

A reach stacker is a type of heavy-duty material handling equipment that is designed to lift, move and stack shipping containers in ports, terminals, and other industrial facilities. Reach-stacker is essentially a hybrid between a crane and a forklift, with a telescopic boom that can extend forward and backward and a set of hydraulic arms or spreaders that can open and close to firmly grasp and lift the containers.

A reach stacker typically has a maximum lifting capacity of around 50-70 metric tons, and can stack containers up to 5 high. It also features a special chassis and steering system that enables it to maneuver in narrow and tight spaces, making it the ideal equipment for handling containers in cargo yards, ports, and freight terminals.

Reach stackers can also be equipped with various safety features like cameras, sensors, and alarms to ensure safe and efficient operation. They are used extensively in the shipping and logistics industry for their speed, versatility, and ability to handle heavy loads with ease.
