What is remission?

Remission refers to the period of time when the symptoms of a disease are in a state of improvement or disappearance. It can occur after the treatment of a disease or as a natural process of the body's immune system. Remission is often associated with cancer, where it refers to the partial or complete disappearance of cancer symptoms, which can be confirmed through medical tests such as scans or blood tests. Remission in cancer can last for varying periods of time, ranging from several months to several years. However, it does not necessarily mean that the cancer is cured as the disease may come back at some point in the future. Remission can also occur in other diseases such as autoimmune disorders, where the immune system becomes less active or stops attacking healthy cells in the body, leading to improvement in symptoms.
