What is rougui?

Rougui (肉桂 or "cinnamon" in English) is a type of Chinese Oolong tea that originates from the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian Province, China. "Rougui" literally translates to "cinnamon" in Chinese and is characterized by its sweet and spicy aroma with notes of cinnamon.

Rougui is known for its strong flavor and is often enjoyed as a dessert tea due to its natural sweetness. It has a deep, earthy flavor with hints of fruitiness, most commonly described as having a woody or nutty taste.

The tea leaves of Rougui are a reddish-brown color and are lightly oxidized to give them their unique flavor profile. It is also highly valued for its health benefits, which include reducing inflammation, improving digestion, and boosting immunity.

In addition to its status as a popular tea choice in China, Rougui has also become popular in other countries such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan. It is often brewed in small ceramic teapots and served in tiny tea cups, which is a traditional Chinese way of drinking tea.
