What is sfigmomanometri?

Sfigmomanometri, also known as blood pressure measurement, is a technique used to determine the force of blood against the walls of arteries in the body. The measurement is taken using a sphygmomanometer, which includes an inflatable cuff and a gauge. The cuff is wrapped around the upper arm and inflated to a pressure level that momentarily stops the flow of blood. The pressure is then slowly released while listening through a stethoscope for the sound of blood passing through the artery. The systolic blood pressure (the pressure when the heart beats) and the diastolic blood pressure (the pressure when the heart is at rest) are recorded in millimeters of mercury (mmHg). This measurement helps to detect hypertension (high blood pressure) or hypotension (low blood pressure), which can be a sign of underlying health issues such as heart disease or diabetes.
