What is shadows?

Shadows are formed when an object blocks a source of light. The shape and size of shadows depend on the distance between the object and the light source, the position of the object, and the shape of the object.

The shadow's size and shape change throughout the day and depend on the position of the sun in the sky. At noon, when the sun is directly overhead, shadows are at their shortest. The longest shadows are typically seen in the early morning or late afternoon when the sun is closer to the horizon.

Shadows can be used to determine the time of day, the direction, and angle of the sun. They can also be used to create artistic effects in photography and art. Shadows in scientific and engineering applications can be used to study the shape and properties of objects, such as in medical diagnostics or 3D printing.
