What is shirk.?

Shirk is the Arabic term used to describe the act of associating partners or others with Allah, the only God in Islam. It is considered the greatest sin in Islam and is strictly prohibited as it goes against the basic principle of tawheed (monotheism).

Shirk can take many forms, including worshipping other gods or deities, seeking help or guidance from anyone other than Allah, believing in the power of talismans, amulets, or charms, or placing one's trust in anyone other than Allah.

Islam emphasizes the importance of seeking forgiveness for committing shirk and warns of severe consequences for those who persist in this sin. Muslims are encouraged to always worship and put their faith in Allah alone, without association with any other being or force.
