What is slc40?

SLC-40 (Space Launch Complex 40) is a space launch complex located at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, USA. It was originally built in the 1960s for Titan II rocket launches and was later renovated for use by SpaceX.

SLC-40 is primarily used for Falcon 9 rocket launches, and is capable of supporting both Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets. The complex includes a launch pad, a hangar, and various support buildings. The launch pad can support up to 29 rocket launches per year.

SLC-40 has been the site of numerous successful Falcon 9 launches, including the launch of the Dragon spacecraft on its first mission to the International Space Station in 2012. However, the launch complex suffered a catastrophic explosion during a static fire test in September 2016, causing significant damage. It was subsequently repaired and returned to service in December 2017.

Today, SLC-40 continues to be a major launch complex for SpaceX, with numerous rocket launches planned over the coming years.
