What is slipmats?

Slipmats are circular mats made of felt or other materials that are placed on top of a turntable platter. Their primary use is to reduce friction between the vinyl record and the turntable, allowing DJs to manipulate the record and create sound effects such as scratching and backspinning. Slipmats come in a variety of designs and sizes, and can also serve as a decorative element in a DJ setup. Some slipmats are made from special materials that can enhance sound quality or reduce static electricity. While slipmats are primarily associated with DJing, they can also be used by audiophiles to improve vinyl playback and protect records from scratches.
