What is squealing?

Squealing is a high-pitched, unpleasant sound that can be produced by different sources. In animals, it can be a vocalization made by certain species of birds or rodents, as well as by some domesticated animals like pigs or horses. In humans, it can be a sound made in response to pain, fear, or excitement, or as a way of expressing frustration or annoyance.

In mechanical systems, squealing can be a sign of a problem, such as worn-out or misaligned components, or insufficient lubrication. For example, car brakes can squeal when the brake pads are worn down or glazed, while fan belts can make a squealing noise if they are too loose or worn out. In general, squealing in machinery can indicate that something needs attention or repair before it becomes more serious or causes further damage.
