STG44 (Sturmgewehr 44) is a selective-fire assault rifle developed during World War II by Nazi Germany. It was the first successful assault rifle and was primarily issued to German soldiers during the later half of the war. The rifle had a 30-round detachable box magazine and fired the 7.92x33mm Kurz intermediate cartridge. It was designed to be compact and lightweight, making it easier for soldiers to carry and maneuver in combat. The STG44 used a gas-operated system and had a muzzle velocity of around 685m/s. It was highly influential in the post-war development of modern assault rifles, such as the AK-47 and M16. Today, STG44 is considered a collector's item and is highly sought after by firearms enthusiasts.
