What is stichtite?

Stichtite is a rare mineral that is typically found in association with serpentinite rocks, which are formed from the alteration of ultramafic rocks such as peridotite. It was first discovered in Tasmania, Australia in 1910 and is named after Robert Carl Sticht, a mineralogist from the University of Tasmania.

Stichtite is known for its distinctive purple color, which can range from pale lavender to deep violet. It is often found in massive form, as well as in fibrous or powdery aggregates. Stichtite is also commonly found in association with other minerals such as chromite, magnetite, and hydromagnesite.

Metaphysically, stichtite is believed to have calming and soothing properties, making it a popular stone for emotional healing and stress relief. It is also thought to promote compassion, forgiveness, and understanding in relationships.

Due to its rarity, stichtite is not widely used in commercial applications but is instead prized by mineral collectors and enthusiasts for its unique color and crystal formations. It is also sometimes used in jewelry, carvings, and decorative objects.
