Ernst A. J. Stromberg was a Swedish inventor born in 1871 who is known for his work in the electrical field. He began his career as an apprentice to a watchmaker, but his interests soon turned to electricity. In 1892, he developed a device that improved the arc lamp, which was used for lighting in the late 19th century. He went on to invent other electrical devices, including the first automatic switch for street lights.

In 1902, Stromberg moved to the United States and became a naturalized citizen. He continued his work in the electrical field and founded the Stromberg-Carlson Company in 1894. The company originally produced telephones and telegraph equipment, but later expanded to other electronics products, including radios.

Stromberg was recognized for his contributions to electrical technology and was awarded numerous patents throughout his career. He died in 1962 at the age of 91.
