What is stutterhiem?

Stutterheim is a town located in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It is situated approximately 80 kilometers southeast of the city of East London. The town was established in 1857 and named after Baron Gustav von Stutterheim, a Prussian military commander who fought in the British army during the Kaffir War.

Stutterheim is primarily an agricultural town, with the production of timber and dairy being the main industries. The town also has a growing tourism industry, thanks to its scenic surroundings and peaceful atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy hiking, birdwatching, and water sports at nearby Hogsback, Keiskamma River, and Gubu Dam.

Stutterheim is home to a number of historic buildings, including the old Stutterheim Station, which is now used as a craft market, and St. Patrick's Catholic Church, which was built in 1891. The town also has a number of schools, including Stutterheim Primary School, Stutterheim High School, and Stutterheim Comprehensive School.
