What is symmastia?

Symmastia, also known as "breadloafing" or "uniboob," is a condition in which the breast implants are too close together, causing them to merge in the center of the chest. This results in a lack of separation between the breasts, creating a uniboob appearance.

Symmastia can occur as a result of poorly positioned breast implants, overly large implants, or inadequate support of the breast tissue. It can also be a complication of breast augmentation surgery, particularly when the implants are placed too close to the midline or when the pocket created to hold the implant is too large.

Symmastia can be corrected through surgical intervention, which typically involves resizing or repositioning the implants and reconstructing the breast pocket to create more natural separation between the breasts. It is important to consult with a qualified plastic surgeon to determine the best course of action for addressing symmastia.
