What is tankard?

A tankard is a large drinking vessel with a handle and a hinged lid, typically made of silver or pewter but can also be made of other materials such as ceramic or glass. They were commonly used during the medieval and Renaissance periods for serving ale and other beverages.

Tankards vary in size and style, but are generally wider at the top than at the bottom. Some tankards have intricate designs and engravings, while others are plain.

In modern times, tankards are still used as decorative or ceremonial drinking vessels, but are also sometimes used for beer or other beverages at pubs or bars. Some people also collect antique or unique tankards as a hobby.
