Timbalada is a musical group from Salvador, Brazil. The group was created in 1991 by percussionist Carlinhos Brown, who is also known for his solo career and collaborations with artists such as Sérgio Mendes and Shakira. Timbalada's music is a mix of samba-reggae, axé, and pop, and is characterized by the use of many different percussion instruments, including timbales, surdos, and agogôs. The group has released several successful albums and has been nominated for multiple Latin Grammy Awards. Timbalada's live performances are known for their energetic and rhythmic nature, and the group is considered one of the most important representatives of Brazilian percussion music.
