What is timoleons?

Timoleons (from the Greek name Τιμολέων) was a famous Greek statesman and military leader who lived during the late 4th century BC. He was born in Corinth, Greece, and belonged to a wealthy aristocratic family. Timoleons is known for his leadership in the overthrow of the tyrant of Syracuse, Dionysius II, in 344 BC. He then served as Syracuse's leader until his death in 336 BC. Timoleons is credited with implementing reforms that helped stabilize and strengthen the city-state of Syracuse. He is also known for his military campaigns against the Carthaginians, which helped to secure Syracuse's independence. Today, Timoleons is remembered as one of the most successful leaders of ancient Greece, and his legacy has inspired many subsequent Greek leaders throughout history.
