What is tinacos?

Tinacos are large, plastic water tanks commonly found on rooftops in many Latin American countries. They are used to collect and store rainwater or municipal water for household use. Tinacos come in various sizes and shapes, ranging from small, round ones to large, rectangular ones. They are made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and UV inhibitors to prevent the tank from deteriorating in sunlight. Tinacos have a lifespan of around 20 years and require periodic cleaning and maintenance. They are an essential part of rural water supply in many areas where there is a limited supply of clean water.
