What is tonfas?

Tonfas are wooden or metal batons used in martial arts and law enforcement. They are typically around two feet in length and have a handle on one end. Originally used in Okinawan martial arts, tonfas have also been adopted by various styles of karate, kung fu, and other martial arts practices.

Tonfas are used for striking, blocking, and controlling an opponent. They can be swung, jabbed, or used in a spinning motion to deliver powerful blows. In law enforcement, tonfas are often used by police officers as a non-lethal weapon for controlling suspects.

Training with tonfas can improve hand-eye coordination, strength, and agility. However, due to their potential for causing injury, proper instruction and supervision are essential when using tonfas for training or self-defense.
