What is tsukemen?

Tsukemen is a type of ramen dish that originated in Japan. Unlike traditional ramen where the noodles are served in a hot broth, tsukemen features cold noodles that are served separately from a concentrated dipping broth. The broth is rich and flavorful, often made with pork or fish stock, soy sauce, and various seasonings.

To eat tsukemen, diners are instructed to dip the cold noodles into the hot broth before taking a bite. This allows the noodles to absorb the flavors of the broth while retaining their firm texture. The dish is typically accompanied by toppings such as sliced pork, boiled egg, nori (seaweed), and green onions.

Tsukemen is a popular dish in Japan, especially during the summer months when a hot bowl of ramen may be less appealing. It has also gained popularity in other countries, with many ramen restaurants around the world offering their own versions of tsukemen.
