What is twips?

Twips are a unit of measurement used in typography and graphic design. The term "twip" is short for "twentieth of a point," with a point being a standard unit of measurement in typography that is equal to 1/72 of an inch.

In digital media, a twip is equal to 1/1440 of an inch or approximately 0.0176 mm. Twips are commonly used to specify the position and size of text and graphic elements in desktop publishing and other software applications.

The use of twips allows for precise positioning and alignment of elements in design layouts, which is especially important for printed materials. While twips are not as commonly used in web design as other units such as pixels or ems, they are still relevant in some contexts, such as when creating printable documents or PDFs.
