What is vadyas?

Vadyas are musical instruments commonly used in Indian classical music. They are classified into four categories: stringed instruments (chordophones), wind instruments (aerophones), percussion instruments (membranophones), and solid instruments (idiophones).

Some common vadyas include the sitar, sarod, veena, bansuri, shehnai, tabla, mridangam, and manjira. Each of these instruments has a unique sound and is played differently. For example, the sitar is played by plucking the strings while the shehnai is played by blowing air into it.

Vadyas play an important role in Indian music and are used to create melodies, rhythms, and harmonies. They are often accompanied by vocals and other instruments, and are an essential part of many classical and folk music performances.
