What is versus?

Versus is a Latin word meaning "against" or "in opposition to." In English, it is often used to indicate a competition or comparison between two things or entities. For example, a sporting event might be described as a "versus" match between two teams, or a product review might feature a "versus" comparison between two similar products. In literature and other forms of media, "versus" can also be used to signify a conflict or battle between two characters or groups, as in the popular "Batman versus Superman" comic book storyline.
