What is viner?

Viner is a social media platform that was founded in 2013 and allows users to post short, looping video clips. The videos are limited to 6 seconds in length and a single Vine can be made up of up to six separate shots. The platform quickly gained popularity due to the creativity and humor displayed in many of the videos.

Viner allowed users to follow other accounts, like and comment on posts, and share videos across other social media platforms. There were a wide variety of videos posted on Viner, including comedy sketches, stop-motion animations, and music videos.

In 2016, Twitter (which had acquired Viner in 2012) announced that it was discontinuing the app. Despite its popularity, Viner struggled to monetize the platform and faced competition from other social media apps like Snapchat and Instagram. The platform officially shut down in January 2017, though many of the videos created on Viner have been preserved and shared on other social media platforms.
