What is viswakarma?

Viswakarma or Vishwakarma is a Hindu deity worshipped as the divine architect and designer. He is believed to have created the universe according to Hindu mythology and is also considered as the patron of all craftsmen and architects.

Viswakarma is described as having four arms holding a book, a water-pot, a noose, and craftsman’s tools such as the hammer and chisel. He is also depicted riding on a chariot that is operated by a swan or a peacock.

The festival of Viswakarma Jayanti is celebrated on the day of Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturdashi, which falls in September every year. This day is considered auspicious for buying new tools, machinery, and equipment.

Viswakarma is also worshipped by people from other religions like Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism as the god of craftsmanship and innovation. His blessings are sought by architects, engineers, and craftsmen across India for the success of their projects.
