What is vugledar?

Vugledar is a city located in the Donetsk Oblast (province) of eastern Ukraine. It has a population of approximately 22,000 people. Historically, the city was founded in the 19th century as a coal mining settlement and grew rapidly as a result of the industrialization of the region. Today, Vugledar remains primarily focused on coal mining and related industries, although there are also some other small-scale manufacturing operations in the area. Like many cities in the region, Vugledar has been affected by the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine, which has resulted in damage to infrastructure and displacement of residents.
