The Wechsler Intelligence Scales are a series of psychological tests used to assess the cognitive ability and intelligence of individuals. The tests were developed by David Wechsler in the 1930s and have since become some of the most widely used intelligence tests in the world. There are different versions of the Wechsler tests, including the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC). The tests consist of a variety of tasks that assess different areas of cognitive ability, such as verbal comprehension, perceptual reasoning, working memory, and processing speed. The results of the tests provide a measure of an individual's intellectual functioning, which can be used to help diagnose learning disabilities and developmental disorders, and to inform educational and vocational decisions.
