What is zantzinger?

William Zantzinger was a wealthy landowner in Maryland who gained notoriety for the murder of Hattie Carroll, a 51-year-old African American barmaid, on February 8, 1963. Zantzinger was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to six months in jail. The case became famous after Bob Dylan wrote a song about the murder, titled "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll." Zantzinger died in 2009 at the age of 69.
