What is zastavka?

Zastavka, also known as a screen saver, is a feature found in computer operating systems that displays a series of images or animations when a device is idle for a certain amount of time. The purpose of zastavka is to prevent screen burn-in and extend the lifespan of computer monitors.

A zastavka typically displays moving patterns or images, such as a bouncing ball, scrolling text or any video files with sound, which can be customized by the user. Modern operating systems offer a variety of built-in zastavka options and allow users to download and install their own custom zastavka.

Originally, the term "zastavka" was more commonly used in Russia and other countries in the former Soviet Union, but it has since been adopted more widely. In the early days of computing, zastavkas were mostly static images, but with advancements in technology, they have become more dynamic and interactive.
