What is brucetown?

Brucetown is an unincorporated community located in Frederick County, Virginia, United States. It is situated on the north side of Cedar Creek and is northwest of Middletown, Virginia. Brucetown was named after William Bruce, a prominent resident of the area during the late 18th and early 19th century.

The community has a general store, post office, and several historic buildings, including the Brucetown United Methodist Church, which dates back to 1856. The area is also home to several antebellum homes and other historic sites, such as the nearby Belle Grove Plantation, which was the birthplace of President James Madison's wife, Dolley.

Brucetown is known for its small-town charm, and its quiet, rural surroundings provide opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and birdwatching.
