What is catalburun?

The Catalburun, also known as the Turkish Pointer, is a rare dog breed that originates from Turkey. It is easily recognizable by its unique appearance, which includes a split nose or double nose. This distinctive feature is a result of a genetic mutation within the breed.

Catalburuns are medium-sized dogs with a muscular build and a short coat that comes in a variety of colors, including white, black, and liver. They are highly energetic and intelligent dogs that require regular exercise and mental stimulation to thrive.

These dogs were originally bred for hunting, specifically for tracking and pointing game birds. They are known for their excellent hunting abilities, keen sense of smell, and high prey drive.

Due to their rarity and unique appearance, Catalburuns are considered a national treasure in Turkey. However, the breed is at risk of extinction, with only a small population remaining in the country. Efforts are being made to preserve and promote the breed to prevent its decline.
