What is crucifer?

Crucifer is a family of flowering plants also known as the Brassicaceae family. It includes more than 3,700 species and is found in all parts of the world except Antarctica. Some of the most common cruciferous vegetables include broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, Brussels sprouts, bok choy, and radish.

Cruciferous vegetables are known for their unique compounds known as glucosinolates that give them their distinctive bitter taste. These compounds are linked to many health benefits like reducing the risk of cancer, supporting the immune system, and reducing inflammation.

In addition to their nutritional value, cruciferous vegetables are easy to grow and are often included in home gardens. They can be eaten raw in salads or as a cooked side dish, and they are a popular ingredient in many dishes from around the world.
