Gustavo Diaz Ordaz was a Mexican politician who served as the President of Mexico from 1964 to 1970. He was born on March 12, 1911, in San Andres Chalchicomula, Puebla, Mexico. Diaz Ordaz studied law at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and began his political career as a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).

During his presidency, Diaz Ordaz implemented numerous economic and social reforms, including the establishment of the National Institute of Statistics, Geography, and Informatics, and the introduction of a program of land reform. He also oversaw the construction of the Mexico City metro system and the National University of Mexico.

However, Diaz Ordaz is best known for his handling of the Tlatelolco Massacre in 1968, during which Mexican soldiers killed an estimated 300 students and civilians protesting against the government. Many criticized Diaz Ordaz's heavy-handed tactics and human rights abuses during this period.

After leaving office, Diaz Ordaz lived a relatively quiet life and died on July 15, 1979, in Mexico City.
