What is drusies?

Drusy (or druse) denotes the surface layer of tiny crystals that form on the surface of a mineral or rock. It is a crystal coating that forms over the surface or cavities of minerals or rocks, giving them an appearance of sugar-coated or glittery surface. Drusies can form on a variety of minerals, including quartz, calcite, and garnet, and can come in a variety of colors, with the most common being white, grey, and brown. Drusy crystals are formed through the process of precipitation, where water seeps through fissures or cracks in rocks and minerals, and the dissolved minerals form tiny crystals on the surface. They have become popular in jewelry-making and are often used as decorative stones. Drusies are also used in geology to study mineral formations and their crystalline attributes.
