What is dynamitron?

Dynamitron, also known as electron accelerator or betatron, is a device that produces high-energy electrons by accelerating them to near-light speed using strong electric and magnetic fields. It consists of a vacuum chamber, an electron gun, a series of accelerating structures, and focusing magnets. The electrons are generated by heating a filament and emitting them from the gun, and then they are accelerated by electric fields in the resonant structures, which are arranged in increasing orders of magnitude. The focusing magnets bend the beam of electrons to keep it on course, and the final output can be as high as several Megaelectronvolts (MeV). Dynamitrons are used in various fields, such as medical radiation therapy, materials science, food sterilization, and aerospace engineering. They are safe to use due to their ability to switch off the high-energy radiation as soon as the operation is complete.
