What is fep?

FEP (Fluorinated ethylene propylene) is a thermoplastic material with excellent chemical resistance, low friction, and electrical insulation properties. It is a copolymer of hexafluoropropylene and tetrafluoroethylene. FEP has a high melting point of around 260°C and can be molded or extruded into various shapes and forms. Its low coefficient of friction makes it suitable for use in bearings, seals, and electrical wire insulation. FEP is also used in the manufacturing of heat shrink tubing, medical tubing, and as a release liner in the printing industry. FEP is a non-toxic material that is resistant to UV radiation, weathering, and ageing. It is an ideal substitute for PTFE in many applications as it has similar properties but can be processed at lower temperatures and is less prone to stress cracking.
