What is herpins?

Herpes is a common viral infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). There are two types of herpes viruses, HSV-1 and HSV-2. HSV-1 is usually associated with oral herpes, while HSV-2 typically causes genital herpes. However, both types can cause outbreaks in either location.

Herpes virus is spread through direct contact with infected skin, mucous membranes, or bodily fluids. It is most contagious during an active outbreak but can also be transmitted when there are no visible symptoms. Symptoms can include fever, swollen lymph nodes, painful blisters or sores, and flu-like symptoms.

There is no known cure for herpes, but antiviral medications can help manage symptoms and reduce the frequency and severity of outbreaks. It is important to practice safe sex, use condoms, and avoid sexual contact during outbreaks to prevent spreading the virus to others.
