Okezie Victor Ikpeazu is a Nigerian politician and the current Governor of Abia State since May 29, 2015. He was born on October 18, 1964, in Amaokwe Ugba, Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria.
Ikpeazu attended the University of Maiduguri, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry in 1984. He furthered his education at the University of Calabar, where he obtained a master's degree in Biochemical Toxicology in 1990. In 1994, he earned a doctorate in Biochemical Pharmacology from the University of Calabar.
Before delving into politics, Ikpeazu was a lecturer at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology. He later became the General Manager of Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Abia State Passengers Integrated Manifest and Safety Scheme (ASPIMSS).
In 2015, Ikpeazu contested in the gubernatorial elections under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and emerged victorious. He secured a second term in office in 2019.
As governor, Ikpeazu has focused on infrastructural development, education, healthcare, and agriculture. He has initiated projects such as the Abia State Automated Shoe Factory, the Abia State Digital Library, the Abia State Specialist Hospital and Diagnostic Center, and the Abia State University Teaching Hospital.
