What is intuned?

Microsoft Intune is a cloud-based service that focuses on mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM). It allows you to control how your organization's devices, including mobile phones, tablets, and laptops, are used.

Key capabilities of Intune include:

  • Device Enrollment: Setting up devices to be managed by Intune.
  • Configuration Policies: Applying settings and restrictions to devices, such as password requirements, Wi-Fi settings, and app restrictions.
  • Application Management: Deploying, configuring, and managing applications on devices.
  • Compliance Policies: Defining rules that devices must meet to be considered compliant with your organization's security standards.
  • Conditional Access: Restricting access to corporate resources based on device compliance and other factors.
  • Remote Actions: Performing actions on devices remotely, such as wiping data or locking a device.
  • Reporting and Monitoring: Tracking device compliance, application usage, and other key metrics.

Intune integrates with other Microsoft services, such as Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) for identity and access management, and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (formerly SCCM) for managing on-premises devices. It's often used as part of the Microsoft Endpoint Manager platform.
