What is knawing?

Gnawing is the act of continuously biting and chewing something, often to wear it down or to obtain nourishment. It is a common behavior among animals such as rodents, who use their sharp incisors to gnaw on hard objects like wood, bone, and even metal. Gnawing serves various purposes including self-defense, nest building, food collection, and sharpening the teeth. In humans, gnawing can also be a symptom of certain medical or psychological conditions such as anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and developmental disorders.
