What is larvakite?

Larvikite is a type of igneous rock that is composed mainly of feldspar minerals, particularly the variety known as labradorite. It is named after the town of Larvik in Norway, where it is commonly found.

Larvikite is known for its striking black and gray coloration, with shimmering blue, silver, or green iridescent flashes caused by light refracting off the minerals within the rock. This iridescence is known as schiller and is a highly prized characteristic of larvikite.

Larvikite is often used as a decorative stone in architecture and interior design due to its unique appearance and durability. It is also believed to have metaphysical properties, such as promoting inner strength, enhancing psychic abilities, and providing protection against negative energy.

In addition to its decorative and metaphysical uses, larvikite is sometimes used in jewelry making and as a crushed stone in landscaping and gardening. It is a relatively hard and dense rock, making it suitable for a variety of applications.
