What is mici?

Mici, also known as “mititei” is a type of grilled meat dish that originates from Romania. It is made from ground beef, lamb or pork, mixed with spices such as garlic, thyme, paprika, and cumin. The mixture is formed into small sausage-shaped pieces and grilled over an open flame.

Mici is often served with traditional sides such as French fries, mustard and bread, or with a simple tomato salad. It is a popular street food in Romania and is often sold at markets, festivals, and street corners.

The origins of mici are uncertain, but it is believed to have been created in the 19th century by Romanian soldiers who were inspired by the Middle Eastern dish, kebab. Today, it is a beloved dish in Romania and has become popular in other countries, such as Serbia, Bulgaria, and Moldova.
