What is microcasette?

A microcassette is a small analogue audio tape cassette that was first introduced by Olympus in 1969. It measures 1.5 x 0.9 x 0.2 inches (38 x 23 x 5 mm) and uses a tape that is only 0.15 inches wide (3.81 mm).

Microcassettes were mainly used for dictation and recording voice memos. They were popular in the 1980s and 1990s during the rise of portable personal cassette recorders.

They can hold up to 60 minutes of audio recording and can be used with a variety of recorders and transcribers. Microcassettes were also commonly used by journalists, students, and researchers for interviews and note-taking.

With the advent of digital recording technology, the use of microcassettes has declined. However, some professionals, such as attorneys and medical professionals, still use microcassettes for dictation and record-keeping.
