What is nawdc?

NAWDC stands for Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center. It is a United States Navy command that provides advanced training to naval aviators, naval flight officers, and aircrewmen. The command is located at Naval Air Station Fallon in Nevada.

NAWDC was established in 1996 to provide advanced tactical training to Navy and Marine Corps aviators. The center conducts training in air-to-air combat, air-to-ground combat, and electronic warfare. It also provides training in tactical communications, mission planning, and aircraft carrier operations.

The command operates a virtual training center called the Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program, or TOPGUN. The TOPGUN program trains Navy and Marine Corps pilots to be the best fighter pilots in the world.

NAWDC operates several aircraft types in support of its training mission, including the F/A-18 Hornet, F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, EA-18G Growler, E-2 Hawkeye, and MH-60 Seahawk. The center is staffed by over 1,200 military personnel and civilians, including instructors, support staff, and contractors.
