What is picturedisc?

Picturediscs are vinyl records that have images or graphics printed onto the surface of the record, often on one or both sides. The concept of a picturedisc dates back to the late 1920s, but their popularity really took off in the 1970s with the rise of punk and new wave music. The images on picturediscs can be anything from album artwork to live concert photos to abstract designs. They are often more expensive and collectible than standard vinyl records due to their aesthetic appeal. However, because of the printing process, the sound quality of picturediscs can sometimes be compromised.
