The PocketStation was a miniature handheld gaming device created by Sony that was released in Japan in 1999. It was designed to be compatible with the original PlayStation console and act as a memory card with added gaming capabilities.
The PocketStation featured a monochrome LCD screen and required a single AAA battery for power. It had various functions, such as serving as a memory card, a clock, an alarm clock, and a mini-game console. Players could download and play mini-games, as well as use it to unlock bonus content in certain PlayStation games.
Despite its innovative features, the PocketStation was discontinued in 2002 due to low sales and lack of interest outside of Japan. It remains a unique and collectible piece of gaming history for PlayStation enthusiasts.
