What is reichskriegflagge?

Reichskriegflagge is a German term that refers to the war flag of the German Empire from 1871 to 1918 and the Nazi regime from 1933 to 1945. The flag features a black cross on a white background in the center with a red field on each corner. The color combination was said to represent the German nation, with black symbolizing prudence, white symbolizing hope, and red symbolizing courage.

During the Nazi era, the Reichskriegflagge was used as a military flag and also flown during political rallies and events. The Nazi party also added a swastika in the center of the black cross, known as the Reichskriegsflagge mit Hakenkreuz.

Today, it is illegal to display the Reichskriegflagge with the swastika in Germany and many other countries due to its association with the Nazi regime and its crimes against humanity. However, the plain Reichskriegsflagge without the swastika is still used by some military reenactment groups and historical enthusiasts.
